NEORSD Emerald Parkway Design Build
Following Inspection it was determined an 11' corrugated metal pipe (CMP) culvert collapsed causing extensive flooding of a tributary on the Rocky River. Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) entered into a Design-Build contract with Turn-key Tunneling, Inc. to replace 250 lf of 11' diameter CMP with a depth of cover of 70' ft.
Special conditions included installing a 24' diameter shaft to access the deep storm sewer.Workers found significant obstructions while installing the liner plate and rib shaft near the bottom elevation at approximately 70' ft of cover. Construction and demolition debris i n the form of asphalt, concrete slabs, and duct bank were encountered. Two auger bores were completed for a dewatering stem. In total the project used 370--lf of 104" diameter HOBAS flush reline pipe. To line the existing culvert downstream and the new tunnel upstream.
